Happy Wednesday y’all! As I mentioned in a previous blog post, Be Still, I have been learning how to rest well. I try to use Wednesdays as my rest day, mainly because it falls in the middle of the week and it’s a guaranteed day off from work. And y’all, today was very restful! Here’s a peek at some ways I chose to rest and care for myself today!
Reading:
I am currently reading two books and working through a Bible study called Breaking Free by Beth Moore. This morning, while eating breakfast, I read The Tattooist of Auschwitz: A Novel by Heather Morris. I am not very far in yet, but this book has been recommended to me by several people I am close to. So far, it has been a good story, very sad but very moving. I am excited to continue reading it, especially because it is based on a true story!
I have also been reading love what you do. by Dana Spinola, the founder of fab’rik boutiques. I am almost done with this book, and I have absolutely LOVED it! It is all about finding your passions and your purpose and living a life where you love what you do. I have been so inspired and encouraged as I’ve read each chapter. And, each chapter ends with application questions, which I have found very helpful in this season of my life where I am literally trying to find what I love to do. I would highly recommend reading this book!!! Stay tuned for my review for both of these books!
Drinking:
Today I made coffee at home, because I am trying to cut out unnecessary spending for Lent. Today I made both hot and iced coffee, added a splash of vanilla syrup (we currently have Torani French Vanilla syrup at my house), and some caramel nut pods creamer (this creamer is made with almond and coconut milk and has no sugar). For home-brewed coffee, it was good stuff!
Listening:
While I did some necessary tasks today, like organizing the medical supplies that live in my trunk (Did you know I work as a home health nurse every other weekend???), I listened to one of my favorite podcasts called Crime Junkies! It is a true crime podcast where crimes are broken down and explained based on a lot of research that has been compiled…it was my introduction into true crime! I listen to it on the Apple Podcast App, but I believe it can be found other places as well.
Watching:
Tonight my roommates and I are watching the new season of All American!!! I am SO excited, because I feel like I have been waiting years for the new season to air. (Thanks a lot COVID! <insert eye roll>) You can watch past seasons on Netflix, but the newest season is only available on The CW for now. … Wellllllll this was the plan, but the first 2 episodes are already gone, so we are watching Step Up 4 on Netflix instead. It’s the quality time that counts more than what we’re watching, anyway!
Inspiration:
My plants have been inspiring me lately! For one, they are pretty and that alone feeds my soul! But y’all, some plants are so resilient, and I love seeing them start to grow when you give them a little bit of love. It’s kind of like people I guess!
